Great Heart Africa
"Your ordinary acts of love and hope point to the extraordinary promise that every human life is of inestimable value."
Make a donation to our Child Uganda Initiative
Africa is a land of extremes. There are seasons of life giving rain and of seemingly unending drought; a time for the predators and a time for their prey; Intervals of plenty and some of scarcity; and for the people, there are those with much, and many with very little.
At Nature Adventure Africa Safaris Ltd., caring for those in need is one of our highest priorities. It was former South African President Nelson Mandela who said of poverty, “It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of others. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.”
We want conservation in Africa to succeed. But the only way that will truly happen is when people are given as much consideration as the wilderness and wildlife.
Great Heat Africa
Years ago, two Ugandan parents saw an urgent need for better access to education for the children living in Sanganzira, a village near the coast of Lake Victoria. Setting aside what little they had, the Sanganzira Primary School was officially established.
Little did these parents know at the time, but one of the school's first students would eventually go on to major in tourism at Kampala's Makerere University. After graduation, that student, Moses Konde, became the Managing Director of Nature Adventure Africa Safaris Ltd. Shortly thereafter, he devised a way to give back to the community that had given him so much.
Sanganzira Village and Primary School
Today, the Sanganzira Primary School hosts roughly 300 students, many of whom are orphans. There is a desperate need for an upgraded infrastructure, materials (paper, pens, pencils, chalk, etc.), and offices for teachers and other faculty. Other items needed include shoes, sports wear, school bags, and tuition fees.
Make a Donation to the Village
By becoming a sponsor, you are helping reduce poverty, improve livelihoods, and promoting sustainable development and the conservation of wilderness and wildlife in Africa. We hope you would consider making a donation to one of our following programs: education, health and wellness, construction of a village borehole, school power generation, and widow/women/youth income generating activities such as jewelry design, pottery, and other arts and crafts accessories.
Value of your donation to Uganda Primary School Students:
$20 USD – tuition fee per term ($60 USD per year)
$30 USD – school food per term ($90 USD per year)
$15 USD – Breakfast per term ($45 USD per year)
$10 USD – stationary per term ($30 USD per year)
$10 USD – for a pair of shoes for a year and more
$50 USD – computer contribution (for 30 computers) for Sanganzira Primary School
$15 USD – cost of a sow (female pig) for 1 family for income generation ($120 USD supports 10 families)
Support in kind
We welcome medical students, engineers, nurses, doctors, dental professionals, teachers, builders, or anyone else who would like to make a difference by helping out in our programs. You can host the following events in Uganda or your country to fundraise for our programs: A sponsored event such as a walk, run, or bike ride; a bake sale at your place of employment, school, university, or church community; organize a fundraiser dinner with friends and family; and give a child of Uganda used clothing or much needed school supplies.
Our Goal
We are compelled to do what we can to assist the people of Sanganzira. We believe that the school and village can be transformed, and that our unique partnership will one day become a model for other conservation institutions, ecotourism companies, and poverty reduction organizations to follow.
How Your Safari Helps
We consider it a privilege to show you the natural beauty of the Africa we know and love! But we would be saddened if you left without the satisfaction that you gave back as much as you received. At Nature Adventure Africa Safaris, we dedicate a small portion of the total cost of your visit, which will help aid the Sanganzira village and primary school, located not far from the shores of Lake Victoria in the Buikwe District of Uganda. And should you wish, we would be more than happy to bring you there to witness firsthand the good work being done on your behalf.
Conservation and community must go hand-in-hand. Help us lend that hand to others in the hope that their livelihoods would improve, that they would support conservation efforts in return, and that Africa's wilderness and its extraordinary wildlife would be safeguarded forever!
