This top notch safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park where you will experience mountain gorilla trekking, a visit to the Dian Fossey Center, golden monkey tracking, and exploring the Iby'wacu cultural village.
DAY 1: KIGALI TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Upon your arrival in Kigali, your guide will transport you to Ruhengeri. Your stopping point will be in Kinigi in the Musanze region with an en-route visit to the Rwandan Genocide Memorial. Your dinner and overnight will either be at the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or the Muhabura Guest House.
DAY 2: RWANDA GORILLA TREKKING & IBY'WACU VILLAGE VISIT
There will be an early morning wake up. Afterward, you will be taken to the starting point of your trek. There will be a debriefing by the game rangers who will explain all of the rules before your trek begins. From there, you will be guided into the rainforest for your gorilla encounter. Please note that you should be in good physical condition, as the terrain in Volcanoes requires a lot of vertical hiking. When your trek is over, you will be taken to a scenic spot to enjoy your lunch, which will be provided by the lodge. After your visit, you will be taken to the Iby'wacu village for a cultural tour. You will be taken to the Dian Fossey Memorial site and see the conservation work being done to help the endangered mountain gorillas. Afterward, you will retire to your lodge for your dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING AND TRANSFER TO KIGALI
You will be taken on a forest walk in search of golden monkeys. There will also be opportunities for other wildlife viewing. Once finished, we will drive back to the airport in Kigali for final departure.

We will hike to the DIan Fossey Memorial site and Karisoke Research Center, where she carried out mountain gorilla research for 18 years. You will also visit a local school supported by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, with opportunities to meet and greet some of the students. Lastly, we will stop at the Twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo - an ideal spot for bird watchers. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.
DAY 6: GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING AND VISIT TO LAKE KIVU
You will track the endangered golden monkeys in the nearby bamboo forest. Once finished, we will retire to the shores of Lake Kivu for lunch and a day of relaxation. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.
DAY 7: LAKE KIVU BOAT CRUISE & TRANSFER TO KIGALI
We will take a relaxing boat ride along Lake Kivu, which offers scenic views of Mount Nyiragongo. After a brief stops at several fishing villages, we will return to the lodge for lunch. Once finished, we will head to the Kigali airport for your return flight.

8 Day Primate Safari
Our 8 day safari will take you to Nyungwe Forest and Volcanoes national parks. Nyungwe Forest offers 13 primate species, including chimpanzees and a host of unique bird species. Volcanoes National Park offers up close encounters with mountain gorillas. Your visit will help bolster the study and conservation of Africa's remaining primates and the habitats that they live in. We would be delighted to introduce you to the wilds of Africa on this wonderful Rwandan safari!

We will head to the park headquarters for your debriefing about the primates, their habitats, and some brief rules. You will then be brought into the forest to track the various species including the chimpanzees. Once finished, you will return to the lodge for lunch. Afterward, there will be an evening canopy walk, followed by dinner and your overnight at the lodge.
DAY 7: NYUNGWE FOREST TO KIGALI
There will be an early morning wake up. Then we will head back to Kigali for your dinner and overnight, at the Kigali Serena Hotel or the Milles Collines Hotel.
DAY 8: KIGALI CITY TOUR & DEPARTURE
On your final day, there will be a brief tour of Kigali, lunch, and then a final transfer to the airport for your return flight.
